Supporters are seen wearing Marseille’s blue and white colours, but there did not appear to be any Atletico Madrid fans involved.

Police fired back with tear gas as the crowd dispersed in Marseille.

OM were comfortably beaten 3-0 tonight’s final in Lyon – a three-hour drive from Marseille – as their fans set off flares in the stands.

Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann struck twice as the Spanish side outclassed hapless OM 3-0 to win the Europa League for the third time.

Marseille were dealt a blow when star player Dimitri Payet left the pitch in tears after picking up an injury in the first half.

The scoreline mirrored the Spanish side’s last Europa League final win over Athletic Bilbao in 2012 and cemented their status as one of the continent’s most consistent teams.
