GLORIOUS Goodwood looks set to be Mehmas’ next stop after he finished second in the Coventry Stakes.
The colt was by no means disgraced behind the impressive Caravaggio especially with the ground against him and trainer Richard Hannon is looking forward to his next outing.
Hannon said: “He wouldn’t be one to love that ground, however, he ran an absolute cracker to finish second.
“There are some nice options for him going forward, including the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood, where Al Shaqab (his owners) sponsor the meeting.”
Hannon was also pleased with the performance of Illuminate in the Commonwealth Cup, as she showed much more spark when fifth behind Quiet Reflection.
“She looks right back to her best and hated the ground at Ascot. She didn’t get the mile in the Guineas and looks much happier over six furlongs,” he said.
“There are plenty of options for her later on this year and I feel back on better ground, she will be very competitive.”
