Michael Bisping on Conor McGregor the UFC 205 press conference: ‘It was awesome!’

MICHAEL Bisping isn’t unfamiliar with the occasional heated Press conference, so when we spoke to him in New York after Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez’s epic UFC 205 presser at Madison Square Garden, he was happy to oblige.

Speaking to SunSport at a promotional event in New York held by Canadian TV channel Fight Network, he said he thoroughly enjoyed the on-stage action at the Madison Square Theatre on Thursday afternoon.

“It was awesome!”, he grinned.

“It was great. That’s Conor doing Conor. I thought Eddie did a good job as well, he added to the heat.

“I love the way Eddie left and Conor took the belt, and then he came over and he aggressively took that belt back. I thought that was good.

“Conor was his entertaining self, as usual. You can’t hate on what the guy does.

“Yeah, he mentioned the fact he was wearing a mink coat a few too many times.

“But he comes in, wearing a mink coat, riding an invisible horse. F*****g awesome!”

“It’s funny, man. You gotta laugh.”

McGregor’s antics have been compared to some of the action you see in the WWE, but Bisping said that the Dubliner’s mischievous behaviour is all part of the show, but he backs it up with spectacular performances on fight night.

“It’s all part of the show, and he thrives on the circus,” Bisping explained.

“I don’t speak to him about it, but I’m assuming the more drama like that makes the occasion bigger and better.

"And for all that aside, he does deliver in his fights, you can’t forget that.

“We’ll see if he wins on Saturday. I don’t know if he will. I hope he does, I wish him the best.

"May the best man win.”
