WHEN MMA coach Jason Parillo makes a fight prediction it pays to take heed.
Michael Bisping‘s pad man correctly predicted a left-hook finish for his man against Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 in June.
And the soothsaying striking coach says he has a fight prediction for the British world champion at UFC 204, too.
“We’re just going to go one shot,” he told Submission Radio this week.
“Every time I get asked these questions, I go with the one shot. If it ends from one shot, I’ll tell you what shot it’s gonna be.”
Parillo says Bisping is in ‘tremendous’ shape heading into Saturday night’s title fight in Manchester[/caption]
And after Bisping’s hands got the job done against Rockhold, Parillo is predicting Bisping’s educated feet to bring the big KO in Manchester on Saturday night.
“It’s gonna be a head kick,” he said.
“He’s gonna knock out Dan Henderson with a head kick.
“Left head kick. He’s gonna knock him out with a left head kick.”
When Bisping jumped in to take on Rockhold at short notice, he did so after filming the latest xXx movie with Vin Diesel and Tony Jaa in Canada.
This time around it’s a similar story, with Bisping coming off the set of the upcoming Lenny McLean biopic ‘My Name Is Lenny’.
And Parillo says the distraction of being on set is actually a blessing in disguise, with the Brit a notorious over-trainer ahead of fights.
Close bond: Jason Parillo has helped take Michael Bisping’s game to a new level[/caption]
“Michael did a movie a few weeks ago… he had a two-week movie filming in the middle of camp,” he explained.
“I had a lot of people going: ‘What the f**k are you doing? You gotta tell him not to go’.
“Listen, you don’t understand Michael. This is a blessing in disguise. We need Mike (on the movie set). How are we going to stop Mike from training and over-training?
“In the middle of the camp he goes out there, we start training, we got up our round (and) he was in good shape before he left.
“But it was almost a blessing in disguise that he had this movie going because he was forced into a little bit of a break.”
Knockout performance: Bisping stopped Luke Rockhold with a left hook to capture the UFC middleweight title at UFC 199[/caption]
And Parillo revealed that there were no concerns over Bisping’s condition when he returned from his busman’s holiday.
“He came back still in shape. I mean, he’s in a tremendous amount of shape
“He has a habit of kind of shocking his nervous system a little bit because he does overtrain, so he doesn’t go in the cage 100% himself a lot of times.
“His conditioning is always there and he’s able to go five rounds and win in high fashion, but he hasn’t always been hurting these guys.
“And he has the ability, the strength, the power to do it.
“It was nice to see him do it in the last fight – the last couple of fights – because you gotta remember, for Anderson Silva we had a small camp (too).”
Old rivalry rekindled: Michael Bisping takes on Dan Henderson on Saturday October 8 in Manchester[/caption]
And Parillo said that while Bisping’s brutal one-punch knockout loss to Henderson at UFC 100 is fresh in the mind once more, there’s no personal animosity between the Brit and the American ahead of the bout – just a desire to avenge the biggest loss of his career.
“This is a very important fight for the both of us, for our whole team, for Brady Fink as well, for the guys that Michael’s been around for a long time, and it’s very important,” he explained.
Jason Parillo (behind Bisping, left) says his man will claim another big KO at UFC 204[/caption]
“There’s nothing personal here, there’s just a little scar on Mike that we want to get off and Dan Henderson’s it, and Mike’s gonna be really focused and try again.
“He’s gonna do it in a high fashion, he’s gonna go out there have a good time and redeem himself.”
