Mourinho’s delight that the world’s best managers are testing themselves in the Premier League

OLD TRAFFORD boss Jose Mourinho reckons the Premier League is taking the best managers worldwide — and putting them head to head.

Mourinho will reignite his La Liga rivalry with new Manchester City chief Pep Guardiola in Beijing tomorrow.

The pair clashed bitterly when the Special One led Real Madrid and Guardiola was in charge at  Barcelona.

While United’s other traditional rivals Liverpool have the highly-rated Jurgen Klopp at the helm — and Mourinho’s old club Chelsea have taken on Italian heavyweight Antonio Conte.

Mourinho said: “The focus is on us. Some of the big teams changed their managers, you basically have one from each country.

“You have one Portuguese, one Spanish, one Italian, one German.

“So it looks like the Premier League is bringing the best of every country, like you used to do with the players.

“But in the end, football is about the game and managers’ work is more outside the game, during the week.

“The players are the ones who produce the show at the weekend.”

And Mourinho insists the attention will be squarely on the pitch instead of the dugout when the season kicks off.

He added: “Very soon people will forget us and focus on the 90 minutes — the game is for the players.

“Nothing has changed. Football is the same. It is team work, players and coaches influencing each other.

“Can we make players better? Yes. Can the players make the manager  better? Yes.

“And in the combination of  work between us and them, you can make it a better team or a not-so good team.”
