The 25-year-old has become one of the most popular athletes in North America after his series of ‘Uncle Drew’ Pepsi adverts – that see him dress up as an old man and shock amateur players.

His custom shoe is currently the second best seller on the market, and he hit the game-winning shot in an epic Game 7 of last year’s Finals.

The shot ended the ‘Cleveland sports curse’ a 52-year wait for a national title in any of the major US sports.

Irving said: “It is well known that I’m an avid player of this series and I am honoured to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18.

“It’s surreal to be featured on the cover and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall.”

The game will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC from September 15.
