NEYMAR’S contract has been leaked — and the Barcelona star earns just £77,000-a-week.
Football Leaks, who revealed the paperwork behind the likes of Gareth Bale,Sergio Aguero and Anthony Martial, have exposed the 13-page document signed by the Samba star in 2013 when he joined Barca.
The breaking news astonishingly shows the 24-year-old Manchester Unitedtarget takes home less than most of the Premier League’s top stars.
Neymar’s salary is listed at €5million-a-year — just over £4m.
Wayne Rooney rakes in a reported £13.5m-a-year, while Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure earn £12.5m.
The contract is signed by Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and former predecessor Sandro Rosell.
Neymar and his father, acting as agent, also signed the paperwork.
The former Santos star received a £6.8m signing bonus and agreed a deal which runs until June 2018.
The contract states Neymar will earn at least £39.7m over the five years, but if the clauses and basic salary do not reach this figure, Barcelona will make up the difference.
The clauses include:
1. If Neymar plays 60 per cent of matches (at least 45 minutes to complete a “match”) Barcelona are obliged to pay him £857k.
2. Each time Barcelona qualify for the Champions League, the Brazilian earns £514k. The contract clarifies that this must be through finishing in a high enough position in La Liga, not via the play-offs.
3. Every time the Catalan club qualifies from the group stage, Neymar will receive £343k.
4. Neymar has set a series of bonuses for each title Barcelona win. La Liga represents a premium of £514k; the Champions League: £685k and the Copa del Rey: £685k.
If Barca win the Champions League and Copa del Rey, the premium rises to £857k and if they complete the treble Neymar would collect £1.37m.
All these amounts, those relating to winning trophies, are reduced if Neymar did not play more than 50 per cent of the matches.
If Neymar wins the Ballon d’Or he will be awarded £343k. The Brazilian finished third in the 2015 competition.
And the striker’s buyout clause is confirmed at an incredible £153m.
Man United and neighbours City are both desperate to make the Brazil talisman their new poster boy.
Both clubs will offer Neymar £1m-a-week to leave Barcelona — almost 13 times his current deal.
Football Leaks also unearthed the financial secrets behind deals involving Luis Suarez, Mesut Ozil, Radamel Falcao, Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric and Memphis Depay.
