NFL stars James Harrison, Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers cleared of claims they took performance-enhancing drugs

THREE NFL stars have been cleared of claims they took performance-enhancing drugs.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ James Harrison and the Green Bay Packers’ Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers were accused of doping allegations by Al-Jazeera in a television documentary last year.

But the NFL said it had “no credible evidence” after each player was interviewed and tested last week.

A NFL statement said the investigation “involved witness interviews, a review of relevant record and other materials, electronic research, and laboratory analysis and review.”

After the trio were cleared, Harrison was quick to take to Instagram to share his innocence.

A caption underneath a montage of headlines read: “It’s only breaking news cause you thought I was guilty. I have my father’s name and I have WORKED for EVERYTHING I have since DAY ONE.”

Peppers also shared his confusion over the allegations.

He said: “I think it’s irresponsible journalism, in my opinion.

“I’m subject to the same steroid and drug-testing policy as everybody else. So I don’t understand how I could be linked to something like this.”

According to the BBC, Al-Jazeera had also reported that Mike Neal and Super Bowl winning quarterback Peyton Manning were also supplied with performance-enhancing drugs.

Manning has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
