Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar opens on the Edinson Cavani rift – blaming the media for inventing stories

NEYMAR has opened up on his reported rift with Edinson Cavani – blaming the media for inventing stories.

The Paris Saint-Germain star reportedly demanded the club sell the striker after they clashed during the 2-0 win against Lyon earlier this month.

Both players argued over who should take free-kicks and a penalty, leading Neymar to subsequently unfollow Cavani on Instagram.

However, speaking to reporters after the 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in which both players scored, the ex-Barcelona ace rubbished claims the duo have a hostile relationship.

Speaking of the media, he said: “They invent a lot of stories.

“They talk too much. They speak about things that they have no clue about.

“They try to infiltrate the dressing room and end up claiming things that do not exist.”

There were no signs of trouble in paradise at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night, as the two South Americans were all smiles as they celebrated together during the emphatic victory against the Bundesliga side.

Neymar also added that there would be no more disagreements on further spot-kicks, claiming they have resolved the issue over who will take them.

He said: "It's already decided. It stays in the dressing room."

While Cavani has recently revealed the players must remain a family amidst the bad blood in Paris.

The former Napoli forward said: "We are all different, we might all have different ways of living and seeing things.

"However, when we are on the pitch, we have to all work together as if we are a family working towards the same objective -- for the team to win.

"As if we're a family to go towards the same objective, which is for the team to win."

The duo will be hoping for more success with each other when PSG face Bordeaux in Ligue 1 on Saturday afternoon.
