VIEWERS of tonight’s Paul O’Grady On Dogs show had their hearts melted when a homeless dalmatian gave birth to 11 adorable puppies.
Fern had been found pregnant and wondering the streets before being brought into Battersea’s dog and cats home in Old Windsor.
Malnourished with protruding bones, she was put on a diet of 3,000 calories a day until she gave birth to her litter.
Although Dalmatians can have large litters, Fern still surprised staff by giving birth to her 11 pups after an 11 hour labour.
The adorable pooches were named for a woodland theme by staff who came up with monikers River, Tulip, Forest, Puddle, Badger, Clover, Primrose, Pixie, Spring, Bark and Aspen.
But while the puppies thrived, Fern – who’d been separated from her brood – ended up pining for them.
Luckily they – and Fern ended up all finding forever homes – much to fans’ delight.
One tweeted: “I think I’ve fallen in love with those puppies on tonight’s show! So happy that all the dogs featured found loving homes!”
Another wrote: “It was cuteness overload with Fern and her pups.”
A third chimed in: “#POGdogs never fails to make me blub.”
And Paul’s heart melted when he met the cute new arrivals and he helped the pooches onto solid foods.
He said: “I have resist the urge to slip a couple into my coat pocket!”
