Paul Pogba slices open Italy’s defence in stunning assist for Man United team-mate Anthony Martial

ANTHONY MARTIAL and Olivier Giroud bagged their first goals of the season as France beat Italy 3-1 in a warm-up for both sides’ World Cup qualifiers.

New Chelsea anchorman N’Golo Kante and Manchester United‘s world record signing Paul Pogba were in the French line-up, and the latter pulled off a sublime through ball for his club team-mate Martial to give France the lead.

Former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle - now with Chinese club Shandong Luneng - soon cancelled that out.

But Arsenal frontman Olivier Giroud gave club boss Arsene Wenger a nudge by restoring France's lead on 28 minutes.

Italy made history when they brought on 17-year-old keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffoon - 21 years his senior.

Debutant Donnarumma was already the Azzurri's youngest squad member for 105 years.

But he was unable to stop Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzava finishing off the hosts near the end.

Italy open their bid to reach the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia with a trip to Israel on Monday, while France face Belarus away the following night.

Attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, Liverpool's £23million summer recruit from Newcastle, hit a 14th minute goal for Holland against Greece in a friendly between two of the biggest non-qualifiers for Euro 2016.

But the visitors fired back for a shock win through ex-Fulham flop Konstantinos Mitroglou and Giannis Giannotos.

Meanwhile, former United enigma Nani netted the first two as Euro champions Portugal destroyed Gibraltar 5-0 in a friendly mis-match.

Yet the home team, without injured Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, needed three late goals to highlight their domination, despite having 38 shots compared to the Gibraltans' one.
