PHILADELPHIA well and truly turned into the City of Brotherly Love as fans streamed on to the streets to celebrate their team’s first ever Super Bowl victory.
The Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Minnesota and it meant team got their hands on the Vince Lombardi trophy for the first time.
And given Philadelphia’s history of near misses and sporting heartache, this was a victory to savour for the city’s die-hard fans.
In fact, the supporters are so die-hard, they have been known to violently turn on their own team in the past, let alone anyone getting behind the other team (particularly if it’s the Dallas Cowboys).
But after quarterback Nick Foles defeated the odds and threw them to victory in Minnesota, tens of thousands of green jerseys descended on Broad Street and nearby avenues to share high fives, say cheers and scrawl “f*** Tom Brady” on to a rubbish truck.
Some fans scaled the truck and sat on top of it, while there were reports elsewhere in the city of cars being tipped over and one even set on fire as scenes got a tad out of hand.
Another man managed to get on top of the entrance awning at the Ritz-Carlton and jumped off it, backwards – trusting he would be caught.
A lamppost was also torn down after around 40 people managed to get on to it
Many donned masks of the iconic Philly eagle, while others have taken to wearing hilarious cartoon dog masks, to symbolise the team’s ‘underdog’ status in most of their playoff games.
According to Slate, there were reports of assaults, multiple injuries and people putting themselves in dangerous situations while sitting on window ledges.
One Policeman radioed: “A man jumped off the light pole and landed on his head.”
Another said: “They just flipped a car over here. If you could get a medical response team over here, I’d greatly appreciate it.”
Meanwhile a third asked for a SWAT team to be sent, with people throwing bottles at policemen while another witnessed a Christmas tree being set alight.

The Eagles’ eight-point victory was all the more remarkable given their first-choice quarterback Carson Wentz’s season was wrecked after an ACL tear.
Wentz, 25, was ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up the injury in the Eagles’ win over the LA Rams, meaning back-up Foles had to step into the void.
And Foles did not disappoint, going above and beyond for a team that many thought would be knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.
There were also hoards of celebrity fans getting in on the action, with Will Smith and Kobe Bryant posting funny clips on Instagram.
Meanwhile Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper watched the game sat next to Ealges owner Jeffrey Lurie and comedian Kevin Hart attempted to get on to the podium for the trophy celebration.
