Porto midfielder Hector Herrera shows off foot injury in gruesome snap… after playing on for 40 minutes


PORTO’S 2-0 home defeat to Juventus in the Champions League last night will have been painful for their players – and in the case of Hector Herrera, literally so.

The Mexican midfielder revealed a horror gash to his foot sustained in a second-half collision with Juve defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The Swiss defender was rightly shown a yellow card for the nasty challenge – but incredibly, Porto captain Herrera played on for 40 minutes with the deep cut.

The 26-year-old played the entire match, as 10-man Porto disappointingly lost 2-0 loss thanks to goals from Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves.

A picture emerged after the match of two bloody gashes on the top of his left foot – and now he is a major doubt for their league trip to Boavista this weekend.

The influential midfielder’s absence will be a big blow to Porto, who are just one point behind league leaders Sporting Lisbon in the league.

Juve were helped to their two priceless away goals last night by Alex Telles’ red card for Porto in the 27th minute for two bookable offences.
