Premier League 2017-18 top goalscorer: What are the odds and who should you bet on?

The Premier League season is just around the corner.

Along with the outrights to win the division – a market which always attracts interest is the top flight’s top goalscorer.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane was top of the log last season – can he repeat the feat?

EVERYONE’S favourite England striker has been in superb form for a last few years.

But can he carry Spurs again this season?

The England man found the back of the net 29 times last season – just seeing off Romelu Lukaku.

Even despite the fact he’s never scored a top-flight goal in August – we’ll still be backing the Spurs star to top the log again.

VERDICT: LUMP ON – KANE THE BOOKIES

Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United, 3/1) – add to your betslip

THE new man at Manchester United has hit the ground running following a summer move from Everton.

While he might still be finding his feet at the Red Devils, the Belgian scored three in pre-season and got himself on the scoresheet in the UEFA Super Cup.

At 3/1 he looks the value bet for the season – especially with United’s relatively easy opening five or six matches.

VERDICT: BACK – LOOK FOR LUKAKU

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City, 6/1) – add to your betslip

ONE of the most consistent performers in the Premier League over the last few seasons.

Is the Argentine going to be first and foremost in Pep Guardiola’s mind though?

VERDICT: AVOID – JESUS MAY SAVE YOU THIS SEASON

Diego Costa (Chelsea, 6/1) – add to your betslip

DIEGO might have ended up a Premier League title winner last season – but he’s clearly not happy at the Blues.

The Spain striker wanted away last January and is trying to force through a move to former club Atletico Madrid.

We just can’t see him staying in the top flight for much longer.

VERDICT: AVOID – COSTA FORTUNE

Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City, 7/1) – add to your betslip

MANCHESTER CITY fans were certainly impressed with their Brazilian newboy last season.

He might have only played ten Premier League matches but seven goals in those games shows he can find the back of the net.

If Pep’s side do go on and regain their domestic crown – Jesus might be the man to lead them there.

At 7/1 he looks a good thing to be smiling come May.

VERDICT: LUMP ON – JESUS TO BE PEP’S SAVIOUR

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal, 10/1) – add to your betslip

ARSENAL’S newboy was certainly lively in the Community Shield – even if he didn’t get on the scoresheet.

The Frenchman does have the look of a finisher – something the Gunners have missed for a while.

10/1 looks a big price for the ex-Lyon man.

VERDICT: BACK – ALEXANDRE WON’T LAC GOALS THIS SEASON

Alvaro Morata (Chelsea, 10/1) – add to your betslip

YOU’LL need to ask for Mor from Alvaro after failing to impress so far at Chelsea.

The £60 million man is facing an uphill battle to prove the doubters wrong at Stamford Bridge.

10/1 still looks a little bit short for the Spaniard to top the log in May.

VERDICT: AVOID – ALVARO NEEDS MOR

Fancy something a bit longer?

THE KID as he is affectionately known by Manchester United fans is still learning.

But he’s already becoming a firm favourite at Old Trafford.

Scoring 11 goals last season (in all competitions), the 19-year-old is set to feature in a more central role following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure.

20/1 will look pretty big if he gets off to a flyer next season.

VERDICT: LUMP ON – MARC YOUR CARD WITH RASHFORD

OK, it’s a long-shot – but the Bournemouth striker did have a very good season last year.

Can he replicate it next campaign?

It looks a very tough ask.

VERDICT: AVOID – THERE ARE NO KING MAKERS HERE

Wayne Rooney (Everton, 66/1) – add to your betslip

YES, yes. We know Rooney is not the force of old but just imagine this situation.

Wayne has got a move his boyhood club and the goals MAY start flowing again.

Might not be so mad after all.

VERDICT: AVOID – ROO’D BE MAD TO BEAT ON WAYNE
