Premier League Darts in Exeter cancelled on safety grounds as Storm Emma batters UK

THE Premier League Darts in Exeter has been cancelled on safety grounds as Storm Emma batters the UK.

Raymond van Barneveld hailed the decision as organisers confirmed concerns spectators and staff would be at risk.

He tweeted: “The Premier League tonight is cancelled which is in my opinion the best decision. So many people involved, not just us the players but so many staff and personel. Their health is more important. Hope everyone understands !! Drive safe when you have to be on the road🙏❤

A PDC statement said: “Following heavy snow across the UK and Storm Emma, the Met Office has issued a Red Weather Warning for the south-west of England on Thursday morning (March 1).

“The PDC was informed by Westpoint Exeter on Thursday morning that local authority and police advice for the region was for no non-essential travel to take place and there were severe concerns over the safety of spectators and staff both accessing the venue and then leaving after the show.

“Therefore, regrettably the show will not take place on Thursday and all ticket holders should contact their point of purchase (SeeTickets or TicketZone, the event’s official box offices) to receive a refund.”

As it stands, the UK Open at the Butlin’s Minehead Resort is due to go ahead.
