The severe weather is now headed to Britain.

While the temperature will not dip so low – the Met Office has issued two severe weather warnings for snow and high wind.

Some experts predict the mercury will plunge as low as -10C in parts of the UK.

The warning read: “Cold northerly winds will bring frequent snow showers through Thursday and into Friday.

“Be aware of the potential for disruption to transport networks.”

The north of England, North Wales and Scotland are the most likely areas to be affected, with up to two inches of snow predicted.

With a full fixture list taking place this weekend, matches up and down the country are expected to be called off.

Despite modern day drainage and under-soil heating, there is also a chance that Premier League games will be postponed.

Sunderland, Burnley, Leicester and Hull are all at home on Saturday, while Everton and Manchester United are at home on Sunday.

Some bookmakers have the chance of a match being cancelled as low as 4/1.
