‘Real Madrid can be unstoppable’, says Manchester City chief ahead of Champions League semi-final

MANCHESTER CITY’S Director of Football worries Real Madrid “can be unstoppable” ahead of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Los Blancos won and drew against Man City in the 2012-13 season group stage.

And Txiki Begiristain — formerly a Barcelona chief — reckons Los Blancos are favourites going into the mouth-watering clash.

Speaking after today’s draw, he said: “At the Bernabeu, [Madrid] can be unstoppable. It’s a great tie.

“Madrid are capable of causing all sorts of problems. The difficulty is there, it’s in their history.

“We know how many times Real Madrid have won the Champions League and been in numerous semi-finals so it is going to be very difficult.

“We saw how they came back in the quarter-finals against Wolfsburg, recovering from 2-0 down to win the second leg 3-0. Probably the worst thing for us is playing the second leg at the Bernabéu which is a huge stadium with a lot of history in this competition.

“They’re capable of turning anything around, but if we’re strong and lively in attack then we can eliminate them.”

City dodged incoming boss Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich, as well as holders Barcelona’s victors Atletico Madrid.

And Twitter users have already had their say on the draw.
