Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo shows caring side by meeting parents of child who died in Mexico earthquake disaster

CRISTIANO RONALDO showed his caring nature as he met the parents of a child killed in the Mexico City earthquake last month.

The 32-year-old has welcomed the family of six-year-old Santiago Flores Mora to Madrid, after his mother wrote to the Real Madrid star of how her son idolised the forward.

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit the South American city in September – killing hundreds – including the death of the boy who passed away when his school collapsed.

His tragic death led his mother to write to Ronaldo, where she said: “He was more than your admirer. He wrote your name everywhere.

“Recently, he would fill out any note of the school as ‘Santiago Flores Mora Cristiano Ronaldo’.

“I just wanted you to know that my son dreamed to meet you, to go visit you, now he has gone with God.

“The last thing we want is financial help, fame or attention.

“The only thing we want is for Cristiano to read what Santi thought of him, because unfortunately Santi could not fulfil his dream.

“All I want is for you to know is that my son admired you as if you were his father, there was no man who admired more than his father and you.

“Thank you for existing, because my son never stopped admiring you.”

The letter found Ronaldo via the power of social media, and he responded the grieving mother by holding up a Los Blancos shirt with his name on, containing a short message.

He said: “For my number 1 fan, Santiago, with much affection.”

And added alongside the picture: “In this moment of pain I send love to the family of Santiago and to all the families that have lost their loved ones, a huge hug.”

But the ex-Manchester United star went a step further as he met with Santiago’s family in Spain.

Fernando Flores, the father of the young child, echoed statements that it was his son’s dream to meet the footballer.
