Real Madrid stars kick back with some Fifa 17 and Mario Kart to pass the time ahead of Club World Cup final in Japan


REAL MADRID’S stars have taken to playing Fifa 17 and Mario Kart in a bid to cure their boredom in between Club World Cup matches.

The La Liga side won their semi-final clash against Club America 2-0 on Thursday thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Yet they must wait until Sunday out in Japan, where the tournament is being held, for the final against host side Kashima Antlers.

With a commanding six-point lead over major rivals Barcelona in La Liga this term, Zinedine Zidane‘s Galacticos are reportedly frustrated by their extended down-time in Asia, itching to get back to the regular season in Spain.

In a desperate bid to keep the players content having been in Japan almost a week already, contained almost exclusively to the hotel, the team have put together a makeshift games room.

Real Madrid stars - notably Spanish contingent of Isco, Alvaro Morata, Dani Carvajal and Marco Asensio - have been playing a lot of Fifa 17 and Mario Kart in a bid to watch the hours fly by.

The morale in the camp had been low, away from their families and confined to their hotel rooms for days on end, but they have been cheered up by the new addition.

Real will have one more training session before Sunday's showdown with surprise package Kashima Antlers, which literally translates as Deer Island Antlers.

The surprise package from Japan toppled Auckland City, Mamelodi Sundowns and Atletico Nacional to get this far - including a 3-0 win over the Colombian side in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Madrid needed just one win to reach the final, as is the case for all Champions League winners in the current format.

The win was somewhat overshadowed by Ronaldo after the final whistle, who stormed off the field of play ranting about video technology 'ruining' his 500th career goal.
