THE wait, as countless promos like to tell us, is finally over. It’s fight night here in Las Vegas as Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor get set to go to war for a second time in a titanic rematch at UFC 202.
The start of fight week was rather pedestrian, with chatter among the media saying that there was a distinct absence of big-fight buzz.
But Wednesday's pre-fight press conference changed all that, as McGregor and Diaz engaged in a spot of bottle throwing at the David Copperfield Theatre.
It wasn't the way the UFC bosses would have wanted to generate the buzz, but it was most certainly there after that, as the incident was replayed countless times across sports and news channels here in the States.
Thursday's media day gave us the change to chat to some of the other fighters on tonight's fight card, and also to get their take on the crazy scenes the previous day.
And the open workouts later in the day saw McGregor deliver the mic drop to beat all mic drops as he slammed Team Diaz and their fans and walking off stage.
To this point we'd seen relatively few Irish fight fans in Sin City, but they arrived in force for Friday's weigh-ins, at the aircraft hangar-sized Marquee Ballroom at the MGM Grand.
And the vocal exchanges between the Irish fans and the Diaz fans created an atmosphere of excitement, tension and genuine rivalry in one of the most memorable weigh-in events we've seen.
The formalities have now been dispensed with and it's time for the rivals to step into the Octagon on fight night.
It's already set to be one of the biggest pay-per-view events in UFC history, and fans here in the UK can watch for free on BT Sport 2 from 1am tonight.
It promises to be an absolute cracker.
