Recap the best of UFC 204 in Manchester in stunning slow motion
THE Manchester Arena played host to one of the biggest nights of mixed martial arts ever seen in the UK as UFC 204 delivered the goods on a breathless night in Manchester.
Michael Bisping had the crowd on their feet as he fought off the challenge of Dan Henderson to retain his UFC middleweight title in a thrilling main event.
But Bisping wasn’t the only Brit to claim a big win on Saturday night, with fellow countrymen Marc Diakiese, Leon Edwards and Jimi Manuwa all scoring memorable stoppage victories on a night that saw an incredible NINE of the 11 bouts on the fight card finish inside the distance.
Diakiese had a UFC debut to remember as he dismantled Poland’s Lucasz Sajewski in their lightweight bout, while welterweight Edwards showcased his grappling skills to upset #14-ranked Albert Tumenov.
And London’s Manuwa delivered the knockout performance of the night with a thumping KO of former interim light-heavyweight title challenger Ovince St-Preux.
‘OSP’ took pound-for-pound superstar Jon Jones the distance in the five-round main event of UFC 197, despite sustaining a broken arm early in the contest.
But against Manuwa he faced a main determined to make good his promise of a knockout finish, and the Brit backed up his pre-fight predictions by delivering a huge left-hook knockout.
