Recap weigh-in day at UFC Hamburg with our fight week blog and pics

FRIDAY saw the fighters take to the scale twice as they completed the pre-fight weigh-ins ahead of their respective bouts at UFC Fight Night in Hamburg.

The new UFC weigh-in regulations demand the fighters officially make weight at the fighter hotel in the morning, before heading to the Barclaycard Arena for the ceremonial weigh-ins in front of the German MMA fans.

Scott Askham was cheered to the rafters by his raucous travelling support,’The Askham Army’, as he held a tense staredown with opponent Jack Hermansson.

And German favourite Nick Hein received a huge ovation from the German fight fans as he arrived on stage with the German flag ahead of his fight with South Korea’s Tae Hyun Bang.

European light-heavyweight stars Alexander Gustafsson and Jan Blachowicz got a little too close for comfort at one point and had to be gently separated by matchmaker Sean Shelby.

But the two main eventers, Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett, kept it classy as they stared off and finished the weigh-ins with a shake of the hands.
