And to the delight of fans watching the action unfold, both caravans were left in tatters.

Verstappen was left in a fit of laughter after Ricciardo accelerated around a sharp bend to purposely overturn the caravan.

The caravan ultimately detached from the chassis, as it smashed against the side of the track, leaving it in ruins.

Ricciardo said: “We did one lap just waving to the crowd, looking like good people.

“Then on the second lap … we didn’t. He lost a wheel and I lost my toilet.

“We lost a lot of things out there, but our dignity remains!”

Speaking of Red Bull’s chances in Monaco, Verstappen said: “I think we have a good chance to win there.

‘We have a good car, and especially already in the last race in Barcelona, the last sector with all the low-speed corners we were very competitive.

‘So with not too many straights in Monaco, I think we are very competitive.”
