A RUGBY LEAGUE player’s grueseome face injury has has fans wincing after his club tweeted a photo of him.
Keighley Cougars’ full-back Ritchie Hawkward split his lip wide open.
The bloody wound marred Keighley’s 20-12 Kingstone Press League One home win over Hunslet yesterday.
Keighley posted two snaps of former Scotland international Hawkward’s injury, sparking horrified and sympathetic responses.
Nathan Mossop tweeted: “That’s horrendous… good job he’s as tough as teak.”
Hannah Irvine admitted: “Actually nearly puked at that.. wishing him a speedy recovery from Barrow.”
But Mark Coulson joked: Chicks dig, scars lol.”
Ritchie Hawkyard is hoping he will soon be on the mend after this ugly injury Twitter
Keighley themselves posted this message: “We’d like to wish Ritchie Hawkward a speedy recovery following the injury he sustained in today’s game!”
Part-timer Hawkyard, 31, who is also a plasterer, joined Keighley last year.
He played three games for Bradford Bulls in 2007 before spending eight years with Swinton Lions.
