CRISTIANO RONALDO stays in shape and recovers quickly from injuries by reading science books.
That’s according to the Real Madrid star’s doctor Jose Carlos Noronha, who is helping the European Championship-winning captain recover from a knee strain.
Ronaldo picked up the injury in Portugal’s Euro 2016 final against France that cruelly ended his game.
But he was as enthusiastic off the pitch as he was on it, and coached his team to victory, alongside boss Fernando Santos.
And after revealing he hopes to return to action for Madrid in early September, his Porto-based doctor has shed light on how the superstar looks after himself in an interview with Tribuna Expresso.
“He has a unique physique and is like those cars that can travel millions of kilometeres without any fault,” said Noronha.
“He is an athlete who fulfils all that is required to maintain a physical form and high psychic to the fullest, through food, sleep and fitness.
“He is scholar and occasionally asks me if there are new scientific articles that he can read on food and other topics.”
Noronha, who has worked with Ronaldo for 11 years, has also worked with other sports stars from 34 different countries, and says around 80 per cent of his clients are footballers.
