Ross Barkley, Manuel Lanzini and Richarlison are the three January signings that will turn around Tottenham’s season

IT’S a strange old time to be a Spurs fan.

While most of the Premier League appear to be in the form of their lives, we on the other hand have hit a speed bump.

From playing some of the most entertaining football in Europe, our heroes in Lilywhite have stunted and desperately need a change of fortune.

The best way to judge a season in my book is to compare your results against that of the previous campaign.

Tottenham have now endured four back-to-back league results that haven’t matched up, picking up two points compared to the ten collected in the corresponding fixtures last year.

Given three of these games have been against weaker opposition, fans are quite rightly frustrated.

The most obvious error in our ways as of late has been our squad depth. Players simply haven’t got competition for their place, meaning they are either mentally exhausted through lack of rest or are simply resting on their laurels.

The other worry for Mauricio Pochettino is that the options he has on the bench simply aren’t good enough. While the time to give up on Moussa Sissoko is well and truly upon us, Fernando Llorente’s lack of quality in front of goal is a real concern.

LONG-TERM GOAL Harry Kane will smash Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record.. and we can reveal exactly when

So how do we fix this? Well luckily the January transfer window is just around the corner.

It is without a doubt that Christian Eriksen is the first player that desperately needs competition at Tottenham. His current ‘mental fatigue’, isn’t doing us any favours and thankfully there’s a player out there that fits the bill.

Exactly 12 months ago, speculation over the future of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley came into circulation, with our side one of the first clubs linked.

With boss Sam Allardyce suggesting a deal could already been done for the young Englishman, we need to make sure it’s the Wembley residents that get it over the line.

Next up, we desperately need some pace.

A criticism from club captain Hugo Lloris of his side at Wembley is that they simply aren’t running at the opposition enough. With clubs sitting back and soaking up the pressure against Spurs at the home of football, we don’t have the personnel to run in between the lines and threaten.

As a result it makes perfect sense to target West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini.

The chance to rescue the Argentine from the sinking ship that is SS Stratford would be too good to miss, given he’s simply leaps and bounds ahead of the relegation threatened team.

And finally, we desperately need a goal-scorer.

To take the burden away from Harry Kane is something the club have been searching for over the last two seasons, suspecting that Llorente was the right man.

But we’ve seen already that we can’t rely on the Spanish veteran to deliver the goods.

Brazilian forward Richarlison would be the perfect fit. Whether we can steal him from Marco Silva’s high-flying Watford midway through the season is a separate conversation, however there’s no denying what he would bring to Tottenham.

This trio would help revitalise Pochettino’s side. With the title out of reach, success in the FA Cup and a strong Champions League run seem our most viable options for glory this campaign.

An injection of young talent, all of whom have Premier League experience, is exactly what is needed to turn our season around.

Get your cheque book out Mr Levy, we need some help.
