SOUTHAMPTON look set to name their new manager after the odds on Rudi Garcia dropped quicker than Ronald Koeman’s reputation around St Mary’s.
The Dutchman walked out on the Saints last week to take over at Premier League rivals Everton and was labelled a hypocrite by – of all people – a Bournemouth player.
But it looks like the superbly well run club have already got a replacement in place in the shape of the French tactician.
The former Roma boss started as a 50/1 outsider to get the South Coast gig for next season but is now odds on.
The Serie A side sacked the 52-year-old in January after a poor run of results in the league and a shameful Coppa Italia exit in their first match against Serie B side Spezia.
But the bosses at Southampton clearly remember his fine form in seasons before when he guided the club to a second-place finishes in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 season.

Garcia also helped nurture current Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan who was signed during Garcia’s tenure.
And he had three seasons working with Miralem Pjanic who Juventus just shelled out around £26million for.
BetVictor Spokesperson Charlie McCann said: “The former Roma boss was nibbled at (40s from 66s) on Tuesday but, in the last 24 hours, what was a trickle has become persistent support.
“And, having been 6/5 earlier in the morning, he is now odds on to be the next manager of Southampton.
“These types of markets are notoriously volatile but some people obviously believe Garcia is the first-choice of the club with Frank de Boer out to 6/1.”
