Ryder Cup 2016: Rory McIlroy abuse means ‘vulgar and profane’ fans will be kicked off the course by security

“VULGAR and profane” fans will be kicked off the Ryder Cup course after a series of flashpoints threatened to spoil the event.

Rory McIlroy yesterday ordered the removal of a man who told him to “suck a d***” in the worst case yet of heckling.

Now the PGA of America, who run the event, have said they will take a “zero tolerance” approach to any offenders in today’s singles.

A statement read: “Our security staff will continue to enforce a zero tolerance policy, removing from the course any fans who are disruptive in any way, including the use of vulgar or profane language directed at the players.

“We look forward to a strong finish that reflects the spirit of the Ryder Cup and provides a positive experience for all.”

Some of Europe's stars have blasted small segments of the crowd who have yelled abusive taunts.

McIlroy, who has been seen as public enemy No 1 by the Americans following his impressive play, said: "It's a tough environment for us to come and play in."

"Someone just said a few derogatory things I thought were over the line. I tried to get him removed."

And Sergio Garcia said of the fans: "They have been quite poor. I'm not going to lie.

"It's unfortunate because I think that 85 per cent of the people are great and I love playing in America. My girlfriend is American.

"But that 15 per cent, that is really bad. It makes them look bad. And I feel ashamed for my girlfriend because I know how bad she feels when she hears all the things, but it is what it is."
