Ryder Cup 2016: Tee-off times for singles on day three as Rory McIlroy leads charge for Europe to overhaul three-point USA advantage

RORY McILROY will play Patrick Reed in the first of the singles round of the Ryder Cup matches as Europe look to overhaul a three-point deficit.

It is a big ask for the visiting side against a strong American team – but Darren Clarke has put out Europe’s strongest players first as he bids to repeat the ‘Miracle of Medinah’ four years ago.

Jordan Spieth plays Henrik Stenson, with Rickie Fowler facing Justin Rose in one of the other huge match-ups.

In 2012 Europe overhauled a four-point deficit to win the Ryder Cup in a crushing defeat for the Americans, who had one hand on the trophy.

Captain Clarke said: “We’re going to have to work hard now tomorrow. It’s been done from a worse position but we have a big task ahead of us. These guys are capable of doing it.”
