Sam Allardyce changed WIFI name at St George’s Park HQ to BIG SAM’S OFFICE

SAM ALLARDYCE’S determination to reshape England his own way on and off the pitch went to bizarre lengths – as he re-named the FA’s WIFI connection at the St George’s Park headquarters ‘BIG SAM’S OFFICE’.

But instead of the now-ousted Three Lions chief stamping his mark on the national team he left a stain on the biggest job in English football.

The former West Ham and Sunderland boss lasted just 67 days as he departed by mutual consent after he was taped making embarrassing claims in the Daily Telegraph’s probe into football corruption.

He told undercover reporters he could”get around” FA rules on third-party ownership of players.

And now the Daily Mail says Allardyce was so keen for power and its attachments that he had the FA’s internet connection named after himself.

But already  ‘BIG SAM’S OFFICE’ can no longer be found on the network.

And indeed few other signs remain of his brief reign, which had included heavy promotion at the HQ in Burton of his slogan: ‘The journey begins here’.

In fact, Allardyce’s main imprint might be keeping Wayne Rooney as captain for his sole game, the last-gasp 1-0 World Cup qualifying win in Slovakia a month ago

That is because his stand-in successor Gareth Southgate has backed that decision, meaning out-of-form striker Rooney should at least has some security after being benched for Manchester United‘s last three games.
