Fans at the Crucible were left stunned as he potted a red using a trick shot which hit THREE cushions on its way to glory.

Murphy unleased his mesmerising piece of play during a tough match against Ronnie O’Sullivan.

However, the trick shot did little to halt the five-time champion, who surged into a 6-2 lead during the second-round tie.

But O’Sullivan’s face was a picture when Murphy’s shot went in, with the pair not on good terms.

After O’Sullivan accused snooker bosses of bullying, Murphy retorted: “To claim he has been bullied is, in my opinion, quite inaccurate.

“The players’ contract is clear for all to see. He can say whatever he wants. No-one has muffled him. But you can’t live in a world where there are no consequences.”

World snooker chairman Barry Hearn also got involved, adding: “Ronnie can say whatever he wants about whatever he wants, but he can’t get away with everything he says and he isn’t right about everything he says either.

“In my own personal opinion, I think he is completely wrong.”
