Sheffield Wednesday ready to cut their losses and loan out £10million Jordan Rhodes this summer

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are ready to cut their losses on Jordan Rhodes at the end of the season.

The Owls could let striker Rhodes, 28, go on loan to get his big wages off their payroll.

They may even have to settle for just a slice of his current salary being paid.

Rhodes was the club’s record signing in a £10million deal from Middlesbrough.

But two successive bosses have failed to get the best out of him and his Hillsborough record is only four goals in 28 games;

Ipswich Town tried to take Rhodes on loan in the last window and may be back.

Bolton Wanderers would be bidders if they stay in the Championship.

Former Huddersfield Town man Rhodes joined the Owls from Middlesbrough on an initial loan deal in February 2017 before making his move to Hillsborough permanent.

Many felt the deal was a bit desperate at the time, Wednesday having already boasted a range of forward options such as Gary Hooper, Fernando Forestieri, Steven Fletcher, Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao.

Now a poll taken on social networking site Twitter shows that 80 per cent of the Wednesday fans who voted believe the club should look to sell him.
