THIS is the shocking moment a baseball star punches himself in the face during his side’s defeat.
Houston Astros pitcher Ken Giles lamped himself in the noggin as he was hauled off the field in the 4-0 loss to New York Yankees.
Astros boss A. J. Hinch had clearly seen enough in the ninth and it was when he made the signal to bring Giles off that his fury erupted.
Walking towards the dugout, Giles, 27, slams his right hand into his chest before then clenching his fist and thumping his own jaw.
Once in the dugout he launches a bat at the ground and kicks it as stunned team-mates watch on.
American Giles, who earns around £3.4million a year with the Astros, explained his actions afterwards.
He said: “I didn’t have my stuff. I effed up today. It’s all on me. I wasted a good start and have got to bounce back.
“This crap happens. Outings like this get the best of us. As much as I want to be perfect, no one’s going to be perfect.
“I’ve got to learn from my mistakes.
“I screwed up a win. We should have won this game. We should have bounced back.

“I didn’t give our team a chance.
“Of course I’m going to be frustrated with that.
“This team deserves the best out of everybody and they need me to be the best I can be.
“They deserve that and that’s what I’m going to give them from here on out.”
