Spy spooked All Blacks in build-up to Second Lions Test, new Amazon documentary reveals

A SPY caused panic in the All Blacks camp before last year’s historic Second Test against the Lions.

New Zealand boss Steve Hansen had to halt training at their Wellington base when he spotted a spook in the bushes.

The revelations come to light in a new Amazon Prime documentary, All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks, which is released next month.

Hansen said: “We have a security team and we saw someone up a tree.

“We know people have filmed our training runs. So we are always cautious. It comes with the game now.”

It is not the first time that the Kiwi’s have been embroiled in an espionage saga.

In 2017 their Sydney hotel was bugged with a listening device in the build-up to their Bledisloe Cup game against bitter rivals Australia.

Disgraced centre SBW became the first All Black in 50 years to be sent off.

And in the Amazon series he blames referee Jerome Garces, who he felt got the call wrong.

Sonny Bill said: “It was just a blur. A nightmare. For the ref to make such a dramatic call in a massive game like that – it’s 50 years. It’s a big call.

“Walking off he said I could sit on the sideline or the sheds. I had let the team down, but I walked over to the bench and sat there.”

Manchester City had the Amazon cameras follow them in last season’s record-breaking Premier League title win.

All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks is available on Prime Video from Friday, June 1.
