This is the 15th Paralympics and will feature 174 nations with 528 events in 22 sports - with triathlon and canoeing being the new entries.

You can find out all you need to know about the Paralympics with SunSport's extensive guide.

Google also busted out a number of Doodles to celebrate the Olympics, also hosted in Rio.

They featured fruit playing sports, including a pineapple playing squash and a pear dribbling a basketball.

The search engine giant, one of the world's most profitable companies, often mark anniversaries or significant events with a gif hosted on their homepage.

Team GB have already made history in this Paralympics thanks to Lee Pearson.

The equestrian rider - who has won ten gold medals - will become the first openly gay star to lead out the squad at tonight's opening ceremony, which you can watch from 9.30pm.

And he believes no one really cares anymore about a person's sexual orientation.

He said: "To vote a gay bloke to be in this position is a massive honour. This is probably the biggest honour of my career."
