STEVEN GERRARD says the feeling in his stomach the moment Rangers called him was enough to tell him the club was the place to start his career as a manager.
Former Liverpool star Gerrard has agreed a four-year deal to take charge at Ibrox and attempt to end the Celtic domination in Scotland.
And the 37-year-old insists the pressure of taking charge of an Old Firm club is exactly what he needs to be a success in the dugout.
Gerrard, said: “When the call came it was a no brainer for me. I got a different feeling in my stomach from the previous opportunities I had.
“From that phone call I got a special feeling and I knew Rangers was for me.
“My lack of experience is not an issue for, though seems to be an issue for other people.
“I have been around a big football club for a long time, played in big matches, watched big managers perform and worked under big managers.
“There is only one way to get experience, one day I will be an experience manager and the key is to believe in yourself you have the right characteristics to take on the challenge head on.

“I have confidence this journey will help me. I’m looking forward to the schooling.
“Pressure is not bad, I have played under pressure since I left school. If you are working under pressure you are in a good place.

“I have missed that pressure fighting for three points. Being Rangers manager I know that will come, there will be a lot of scrutiny,.
“Bring it on. I don’t mind being under intense pressure. I knew that before I decided to become a manager, I am up for the challenge.”
There is no bigger pressure on Rangers than to finally end the Celtic domination which has seen them crowned champions for the past seven years.
It means Gerrard will be going up against Brendan Rodgers, the man he worked so closely with during his Liverpool career.
Gerrard, who confirmed Gary McAllister will be his number two, added: “I haven’t spoken to Brendan regarding this role.
“We are fine, we always have been fine and am looking forward to the challenge.
“I don’t want to talk just about Celtic. The key is to get our own house in order.
“We need to improve the squad, and I can only worry about what I can control and that is to make sure that Rangers are capable of winning football matches.
“Let’s go.”
