Sunday league football club fined £750 and manager banned for match-fixing

A SUNDAY league football team has become the smallest club ever convicted of match-fixing.

Peacehaven DPA threw a game to stop their rivals winning the league.

Sean Ligocki is banned from football for five years

The FA found the club and manager guilty after the side deliberately let in a 95th minute goal in the Sussex Sunday Premier Division.

Boss Sean Ligocki was banned from the game for five years and the club was fined £750.

The crunch match was against Real Rosehill in May.

Both sides had a shot at winning the title.

Real needed victory by two goals and Peacehaven a draw.

With seconds left and Real 3-2 up, Ligocki is said to have shouted “let them score”.

Peacehaven conceded a free-kick and Real walked the ball into the net.

The gifted goal robbed rivals AFC 2015 of the title.

AFC manager Ian South had allegedly insulted a Peacehaven player in the first game of the season.

Ligocki claimed: “One of the lads that we have up top suffers from a skin condition and Ian was calling him pizza face.

“I lost a bit of respect for him but we left it on the pitch.”’

Ligocki, whose side play in Seaford, East Sussex, was accused of taking the FA hearing too lightly after arriving in flip-flops.

He said: “I’d just played five-a-side and they were all suited and booted.

“I now regret not taking the meeting more seriously.”

Ian South refused to comment.

A FA spokesman said: “I can confirm the disciplinary hearing took place and one manager and team were found guilty.”
