Super Bowl 2018: Philadelphia Eagles star Fletcher Cox reveals heartache over losing brother to a heart attack
FLETCHER COX wishes his late brother Shaddrick could be in Minneapolis to watch him play in a Super Bowl.
The Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle, 27, lost his eldest sibling at 34 to a heart attack three years ago.
“Trell” Cox, who suffered with heart problems and diabetes, was the oldest of four and helped raise his younger siblings with a single mum in the remote Mississippi town of Yazoo City.
While the rest of the Eagles were jumping round their locker room after thrashing Minnesota to reach the Super Bowl, Cox was in a more solemn mood.
After the game he said: “It’s kind of hard for me right now. I just wish he was here to watch it. But I know he’s watching over me. My brother is the biggest part about this. That’s the first person I thought about.
“All he used to talk about was ‘I want to come to a Super Bowl game.’ He will be watching from up high and he would be really proud of this team.
