Swansea midfielder Roque Mesa set for Sevilla loan just six months after £11million move


ROQUE MESA could be heading back to Spain just eight months after his £11million move to the Premier League.

Sevilla have approached rock bottom Swansea City to see if their midfield misfit is available.

Mesa, aged 28, left Las Palmas for the Liberty Stadium in July.

Since then he has made 13 starts in all competitions and is yet to score.

A loan move could be on the cards with Mesa heading for Champions League football.

The Swans would then bid to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone without him.

Wales Online point out that Mesa has struggled to make the kind of impact hoped for since signing under Paul Clement.

He has not figured in the last three league outings since being hauled off at half-time during Carlos Carvalhal’s opening match as manager.

That saw Swansea stage a late 2-1 comeback win over Watford.

But Carvalhal is more concerned about getting players in who are ready for a relegation battle.

Atletico Madrid’s Argentine midfielder Nicolas Gaitan, 29, remains on the agenda.
