LEICESTER starlet Demarai Gray narrowly avoided a fatal incident involving a helicopter blade.
Gray, 19, emerged from a private chopper at London’s Battersea Heliport, which had taken him and Foxes stars to the PFA Awards ceremony, when he was almost struck by the tail propeller.
Stewards screamed warnings at the forward and bravely rushed to usher him away from what could have been a deadly accident, pushing his head out of danger.
Claudio Ranieri’s squad were flown down to the event at Grosvenor House immediately after their 4-0 romp over Swansea at the King Power Stadium, which stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League.
With Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante all nominated at the ceremony, Leicester’s billionaire owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was desperate for his star players to attend.
The drastic method of transport paid off, with Mahrez being crowned PFA Player of the Year.
But the event would have taken an horrifyingly tragic turn if Gray had been caught by the spinning edges of the helicopter.
The former Birmingham winger — casually dressed in jeans, jacket and cap — stepped out of the chopper and headed towards its rear end.
Luckily staff at the site spotted the danger and averted a potential disaster.
Fellow passenger Mahrez, who has 11 Prem assists this term, was unable to help his pal as the situation looked to be spiralling out of control.
The Algeria star, 25, has enjoyed a spectacular campaign for Leicester, firing in 17 league goals — 19 in all competitions — to drive the Foxes’ title push.
Ranieri’s men now have a seven-point cushion at the top following Tottenham’s draw at home to West Brom.
And a win at Manchester United on Sunday will see Leicester win the Premier League for the first time in their history, defying all the odds at the start of the season.
