THE SAFETY of Manchester United fans in Instanbul is coming into question as Uefa contact Turkish authorities for answers.
United play Fenerbahce on Thursday night in the Europa League but Uefa are seeking assurances from Turkish police and their football federation following security concerns.
On Saturday the US government advised families to leave Istanbul and Turkey after increased threats from terrorist organisations.

These revelations have led to Uefa investigating the situation as they look keep United fans safe.
Uefa told Sky Sports News HQ: “Whilst there is no information that the threat to US citizens in Turkey also extends to UK citizens, Uefa has today sought the necessary security guarantees from the Turkish “Football Federation and the local public authorities regarding the visit of Manchester United and their supporters to Istanbul.

“Since the recent military coup and increased terrorist attacks in Turkey, such guarantees have been requested for all Uefa matches organised in Turkey.
“To date all matches have taken place without security incidents. Uefa will continue to monitor the situation and provide advice and support to clubs as required.”
Saudi Arabia officials reported on Sunday that they successfully thwarted an ISIS terror attack on their World Cup qualifier against United Arab Emirates.
Authorities say they have arrested eight people from two ISIS cells, with one planning a car-bomb attack in the city of Jeddah and the other plotting a separate attack on military officials in the capital, Riyadh.
These security concerns have led to the Foreign Office issuing a statement to people who are planning on travelling to Turkey.
They said: “The threat from terrorism remains high. Terrorist groups, including Kurdish groups, Daesh (formerly referred to as ISIL) and far left organisations, continue to plan and carry out attacks.
"Further attacks are likely. Terrorist groups, including Daesh and the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), have publicly threatened to attack tourist sites in Turkey.
"You should take extra care in public places – particularly those visited by foreigners. Be vigilant, follow the advice of local security authorities, monitor media reports and keep up to date with this travel advice."
There was a terrorist attack near the Stade de France during an international match between Germany and France, on a night where ISIS claimed to be at the heart of six attacks in Paris.
Police confirmed the bomb exploded at a bar near the stadium, killing three people and leaving several injured.
This was one of a number of terrorist attacks in Paris, which left 129 people dead.
Manchester United are not the only team who have to travel to Istanbul this week, because Napoli face Besiktas on Tuesday evening in a Champions League tie.
