Furious fans call for BBC to SACK Danny Murphy after he makes benefits joke about an Everton supporter on crutches
ENRAGED Everton fans have demanded the BBC sack Danny Murphy after he joked, “he’s not going to be getting his benefits”, when he spotted a supporter with crutches wildly celebrating the Toffees’ FA Cup goal against Liverpool.
Speaking after the game, Murphy said: “He’s not going to get his benefits this week, they just caught him.”
There was an immediate backlash on social, with many voicing their disgust with Murphy’s joke.
Toffee fans are now calling for the BBC to to sack the pundit after his inappropriate comment.
The fan is thought to be Graeme Landon Tootle.

One said: “Please release Danny Murphy from his contract. He’s appalling.”
Another added: “Danny Murphs a bad gress, pass it on.”
One raged: “Ay @BBCSport Danny Murphy needs sacking. To assume somebody in the crowd is on benefits because they’re on crutches is an absolute disgrace.”
And one added: “And Danny Murphy can do one. An absolute disgrace. Joking about benefits.”
Tootle also took to Twitter to address the controversy.
He said: “There’s a good chance Work aren’t gonna pay me sick pay no more.
“Had my operation last Friday. Good story though I suppose.”
Before the match, Tootle had contacted Everton via Twitter to ask if he would be allowed access into the stadium with his crutches.
