Thursday’s horse racing tips: Three longshots to bag some profit at Sandown and Haydock

THERE are three longshots across the cards this Thursday that can fill punters’ pockets ahead of Royal Ascot.

The trio should all be available at bigger prices and represent cracking each-way value over a busy day of racing.

Fard looks to have a great chance on only his second start for trainer Simon Crisford at Haydock (4.30).

The three-year-old ran in a competitive novice race at Chelmsford on his debut and should come on leaps and bounds for that.

This looks a much better opening for his second run and he showed enough promise at Chelmsford to give a chance to.

The third from Chelmsford is now rated 100 and nothing in the field at Haydock looks anywhere close to that level.

The other two picks come at Sandown later on in the day, starting with Karl Burke’s Collect Call in the opening race on the card (5.55).

The juvenile finished a promising seventh on debut, but was beaten only four lengths and that Ascot form has played out well since with multiple winners.

She could yet put herself into the frame for Royal Ascot as many others have done from the maiden at Ascot.

It’s a long trip down for Burke’s team from North Yorkshire and the trainer will be hoping the journey is worthwhile.

Finally, Harbour Breeze can sail into the money at Sandown (8.05) after an eye catching third last time out at Newmarket.

Thursday's top tips

4.30 Haydock – Fard “Should come on for debut in strong race” (add to your betslip)

5.55 Sandown – Collect Call “Standout form claims and can stake Ascot credentials” (add to your betslip)

8.05 Sandown – Harbour Breeze “Overpriced for trainer Lucy Wadham against the big yards” (add to your betslip)

The first and second from that race have both been in the winners’ enclosure since and the 33-1 shot that day beat a number of well fancied runners from big yards.

The colt will no doubt still go off a big price for handler Lucy Wadham and could help punters finish the day in style.
