Tiger Woods a doubt for Masters after pulling out of next week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational


TIGER WOODS will miss next week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational – and is a doubt for The Masters.

The former World No1 announced on his website that he will not be able to compete at Bay Hill – where he is an eight-time winner.

Woods admitted he was gutted he could not celebrate the life of Palmer, who died in September aged 87.

He said: “This is the one event I didn’t want to skip.

“Presently, I have no timetable for my return to golf, but my treatments are continuing and going well.”

This will be the fourth-straight year Woods, 41, has skipped Bay Hill after winning the tournament in 2013.

The fallen great has dropped to No 713 after a run of serious injuries.

Agent Mark Steinberg  added: “We’re not talking about an extended break."

The Invitational is set for an emotional week in the wake of Palmer's death.

A bronze statue is to be unveiled near the first tee and the great's cart will be parked behind the 16th tee - his favourite spot to watch.

Woods added that his two kids were born at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.

He explained: “He will be greatly missed and can never truly be replaced.”
