Tiger Woods sweat: Why was golfer sweating so much during the Ryder Cup opening ceremony?

TIGER Woods’ shirt was inexplicably soaked with sweat as the golfer suffered from a hot flush during the Ryder Cup opening ceremony.

Twitter fans were stumped why the former world No1 should be feeling the heat at the end of September.

His light blue shirt was turned dark by the sweat pouring off his chest at the opening ceremony.

And Tiger’s collar was also soaked wet, as his forehead was beaded with sweat in the sunshine in Hazeltine, Minnesota.

It was a sunny afternoon in the Midwestern United States, with a temperature of around 22C, and Woods was wearing a suit.

However he lives in Jupiter, Florida, where the mercury regularly tips more than 32C, with 100 per cent humidity.

And Bubba Watson, who is also a vice-captain, stood alongside him and showed no sign of suffering from the heat.

Twitter fans were perplexed at Woods’ sweaty appearance.

Woods, 40, is a non-playing vice-captain at Hazeltine, helping out skipper Davis Love rather than joining the team taking on Darren Clarke’s European side.

It is the first time Woods has come to the Ryder Cup not as a player, but as a vice-captain; not as the star, but as a member of the supporting cast.

He hasn’t played competitively since August 2015, and during his time out the 14-time Major winner has slumped to world no 754.

Patrick Reed expects his career to benefit no end from working with Woods at the Ryder Cup this week.

Vice-captain Woods has been overseeing a ‘pod’ that includes Reed and the 26-year-old has been soaking up his advice.

Reed said: "It's awesome being a part of Tiger's pod. You see the credentials he has, all the major wins, the 105 worldwide wins, ultimately one of the best golfers ever to live on the planet.

"If you ask him any question or if you need anything, he is there. He's all-in. He'll answer any question, whether it's about golf, on the golf course, off the golf course, anything.

"He's there to genuinely help you and on not just Ryder Cup but other things. It's awesome to see that and be a part of.

"We played nine holes on the first day and I decided I wanted to go see the back nine, so I just walked the back nine backwards. He walked it with me, helping me figure out the golf course.

"You don't get that very often and to have somebody do that for you, especially a guy like Tiger Woods, meant a lot to me.

"The way his mind works on the golf course, it's impressive and it definitely shows why he has won so much and where he is. It was amazing. I learned so much just from that nine holes walking around that I felt like just that alone could save me so many shots throughout my career.

"It's nothing complicated or confusing. It's just actually knowing what to look for, and just the experience and expertise he has in sharing that with me this week has been awesome."
