TOM DALEY has announced he is taking a break from competitive diving ahead of the arrival of his first baby.
World and Commonwealth champion Daley, 23, and husband Dustin Lance Black, 43, the Hollywood screenwriter, are expecting a child next month.
Brit hero Daley will miss this year’s European Championships and the rest of the 2018 season.
He pulled out of individual competition at last month’s Commonwealth Games with a hip injury but won synchronised 10m platform gold with Dan Goodfellow.
Daley, a two-time Olympic bronze medallist, also suffered a series of concussions earlier this year.
But he still plans to return to action next year.

He said: “Diving is a huge part of my life and I have dedicated the last 15 years to it.
“I want to keep performing at the highest level for myself, my family and my fans, but in order to do that I need to take some time to recover.
“I’ll be using the rest of the year to spend time with my husband and new baby and work on projects close to my heart.
“I am sure this will give me the time I need to be in a position to compete at my best going into the next Olympics.”
