Tottenham team news: Mauricio Pochettino eyes £15.2million River Plate striker Lucas Alario

TOTTENHAM are eyeing £15.2million River Plate striker Lucas Alario, according to reports in Spain.

The Argentinian international, 23, has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2020.

But Alario – who dreams of playing in Europe at some point – made sure a release clause inserted to put himself in the shop window.

And Marca claim Mauricio Pochettino is plotting a swoop in 2017 to bolster his attacking options.

Spurs landed £18.8m Vincent Janssen this summer to provide back-up for star man Harry Kane.

The Dutchman is yet to score this season, while Kane got off the mark with a simple tap-in in the 4-0  win over Stoke.
Son Heung-min - one of a number of exciting options Pochettino can use behind the striker - bagged a brace in the romp to kick-start his season.

Alario fits Tottenham's profile for a new signing with his age, relatively low proce and potential all positive factors.

The two-cap international has scored 19 goals in 39 matches for River to date - including two in three so far this season - after signing from Colon.

Spurs sit fourth in the Premier League after picking up eight points from their four matches this season.
