SPURS will ask Manchester United to let them have Anthony Martial as part of any deal taking Toby Alderweireld to Old Trafford.
Tottenham chief Mauricio Pochettino is ready to let the Belgian go after an injury-plagued season at Wembley but Spurs are determined to drive a hard bargain, valuing Alderweireld at £70m-plus.
The Londoners know they need to sell now to prevent Alderweireld being able run down his contract or use a clause to move for just £22m next summer.
And if any deal is on the table, Tottenham are ready to make their own move for France ace Martial, who has fallen down the United pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
Spurs refused to buckle when Alderweireld, 29, demanded a rise to £150,000 per week in order to sign a new deal at the club.
Tottenham had offered Alderweireld an increase to £110,000 per week but the negotiations were broken off as the Belgian’s status in the Spurs squad diminished.
Pochettino made it clear at the end of the season that he regarded Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez as his first-choice central defensive duo, signalling his readiness to let Alderweireld go.
But Poch is keen on landing Martial, who has always impressed against Tottenham with his pace and versatility.

United landed the young Frenchman from Monaco in 2015 in a deal worth up to £58m but he has struggled to make a mark in his two years under Mourinho.
Pochettino, though, believes he can reignite Martial’s career and give Spurs extra firepower as they prepare for their return to N17 and their new 62,000 home next season.
