THE winter window in 2016-17 - as ever - will be just the one month.

Unlike the summer, clubs have a much more limited window of opportunity to bolster their squad... Or sell should that be the case.

Deadline day for the winter window will be officially finalised nearer the time after a conversation with other European leagues.

However, the provisional date all paperwork must be processed by currently states 11pm on Tuesday January 31 as the cut off point.

THE Premier League is comfortably the richest in the world, awash with money from their new £5.2billion television deal which kicked at the start of the season.

Naturally, clubs couldn’t resist splashing the cash in celebration, parting with just short of £1.2bn over the three month window – a world record.

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs tend to find it much harder to complete a deal for a player in the middle of the season, as many don’t want to sell their best talent and disrupt their chemistry.

The current record spend in the month for the top flight is £225m back in 2011.

Last season, £175m was splashed out across the division.

That said, many top clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United, Man City and Tottenham are all hunting key figures as they battle for the league crown.
