Tyson Fury rules out fight against Tony Bellew as he is too small and could get seriously hurt

TYSON FURY has canned a possible bout with Tony Bellew – fearing he could seriously hurt the Bomber in a bout he sees as “pitbull vs jack russell”.

The 35-year-old Everton nut has beaten David Haye in two heavyweight clashes, after a career competing at light-heavy and cruiserweight.

Tyson Fury and Tyson Bellew have always got on well – until now

And Bomber floated the idea of taking on 6ft 9in returning giant Fury as he claims  he is does not possess KO power to trouble him in the top division.

But Fury, 29, who fights again on June 9 told FightHype it would a dangerous mismatch that could end Bellew’s late-blooming career.

The Gypsy King said: “To be honest and this is speaking very, very honest and openly, I don’t want to fight Tony Bellew.

“The reason being, he’s a family man and he’s got a wife and kids and I want him to stay healthy and stay boxing and earn a few quid and go easy to his family.

“But if he steps in ring with the Gypsy King and I unleash hell’s fire on him, he’s only a small man and I could damage him – hurt him properly.

“You aren’t messing with a David Haye who’s 20 years out of date. You’re messing with someone who is 6ft 9in, 19 stone and in the prime of my life and who can knock a wall down, one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight boxing but they don’t know it.

“I don’t want to fight Tony Bellew.

“Tony Bellew’s a light-heavyweight slash cruiserweight at best, if I go in there and hurt him then what good is that, how does that make me feel?

Bellew’s Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has already opened talks with retired American legend Andre Ward about luring the undefeated ace back in the ring.

And Fury has told the former WBC cruiserweight champ to focus on that fights – at a lower weight – or hang up his golden gloves all together.

Fury said: “He shouldn’t be in the ring anyway, listen we all need money but he doesn’t need money that badly to go and lose his senses and get smashed to pieces.

“And all this thing that he could knock me out or whatever please – I’d let Tony Bellew hit me right there [pointing to his chin] and he wouldn’t hurt me.

“So Tony, poor old Tony, bit like a feather duster, dustering me up and down.

“But that is on a serious note, I don’t want to fight Tony because look, end of the day Tony should fight Andre Ward or someone on that level who’s a light puncher – who’s smaller, earn a few quid and pack it in.

“He’s done very well, I’m proud of him but he doesn’t want no part of this, trust me on that and I wouldn’t want to get in there because if I hurt him like I say I’ll be feeling bad all my life, the man’s got a kids and wife.

“It’s a sport at the end of the day, it’s like putting a Pit Bull down to a Jack Russell, it’s not fair is it and that’s what it’ll be. It wouldn’t be fair, because all’s I’ll have to do is walk through him with me hands up let him hit my arms for three or four rounds he’ll fall over from exhaustion.

“I feel for him, I want him to fight somebody who he’s capable of beating and that’s it retire.

“As for even thinking about fighting me I know it’s a publicity thing and Eddie Hearn he’ll do anything for money but one thing Tony, when your hurt severely Eddie Hearn won’t even put in a phone call in to you, you’re a piece of meat to him, forget about it.
